Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lead time for ordering?

Because each of our creations are customized to your specific needs, we require a minimum 2-3 week lead time. For larger events, and orders involving edible images and custom colors, the sooner you contact us the better.
 Please remember the Kitchen works on a first come, first serve basis.  Occasionally we can fit in last minute orders; however this is dependent completely upon our weekly schedule. Please do not expect to order and be able to pick it up the next day.

How much will my custom cake cost?

We cannot compete with Costco, Walmart, or even your local grocery store. In order to help answer that question, please refer to my page that talks about costs associated with custom baking.

Do you offer birthday cake tastings?

No.

Do you do wedding cakes?

Small weddings looking for a simple cutting cake, cupcakes, or sheet cakes are welcome by referral only.

I have a picture of a cake I want, can you make the same cake?

We won’t guarantee our finished product will look exactly the same as your picture, Pinterest find, or FB post. Our designs are custom, and although we are happy to look at someone else’s work, it’s just that- someone else’s work. All cakes are works of art and each decorator is an artist, we all have our own different styles, tools, and methods of creating custom cakes. We will use any provided photos as inspiration.
Details/colors are not guaranteed.

Do you ship?

Yes- to limited areas. Cookies are fragile, therefore require extra TLC to ship. We do “upcharge” for shipping, packaging and handling.

Do you deliver?

Free delivery within the Greater Manassas area. Nominal fee for areas outside of that, based on distance travelled. We will be happy to work all that out with you when you place your order.

What are your business hours?

Monday-Saturday for orders, pick-ups and deliveries. FB messages and emails are answered daily. No pick-ups or deliveries on Sundays.

Do you do gluten free or other special dietary needs?

We do have a small “gluten-free” group of repeat customers who order basic gluten/dairy free items occasionally. We cannot guarantee a gluten free kitchen entirely, as the majority of our products are heavy on the gluten, with loads of dairy.

Do you bake pies?

At this time, no.

Do you make royal icing cookies?

We love a good sugar cookie, and a simple, old fashioned one at that. We stick to glaze, sugar crystals , and colored sprinkles for our decorations. We are happy to guide you to one of the many talented “cookiers’ in the NOVA area that specialize only in those fancy royal icing covered treats!

Can I order plain sugar cookies/cupcakes and decorate them myself at home?

Yes! We love when folks get creative with our blank canvasses of cookies/cupcakes. Price would be less for undecorated products.

Do you teach classes?

Yes, at the Manassas Park Community Center , and by appointment in your home. Classes currently include cupcake and cookie decorating demonstrations. Birthday parties welcome!

I don’t know how many people will be at the party, how big of a cake should I order?

Believe it or not, this is a common question- folks just don’t RSVP like they used to! My suggestion is err on the side of more guests, and you can’t go wrong. Cake freezes well, and you can always pack “doggy bags” to- go.
Estimate how many guests will be attending your celebration.  Then visit our “what size cake should I order” page to see the size and serving charts.  Please keep in mind all of our serving sizes are suggestions and vary with guests appetites!

How do I place an order?

Best way is to call or email. We check emails a few times a day, as well as answer the phone. Although we have a FB business page, we don’t check messenger as often as we read emails.

Where are you located?

“From Gina’s Kitchen” doesn’t have a brick and mortar shop , YET. We are located in Manassas, VA and bake out of two small local commercial kitchens as well as from the home. We are “Serve Safe” compliant, licensed and insured.

I’m looking for a fondant covered cake. Can you help?

We only use fondant as a decorating medium and do not cover entire cakes with it. We only use fondant for accent decorations and letters/numbers .

Do you do dessert bars?

Yes! We have an array of fun sweets and treats that would look(and taste) great at your next party, event or meeting.


Where do I begin if I’ve never ordered from the Kitchen? 

The best thing for you to do is take some time and browse our website. Once you have a general idea of the product that will fit your celebration the best, visit email us or  or give us a call.

Do you accept debit cards and online payments?

Yes, we can invoice you via an email from Square and you can pay online. There is a slight fee to payment online, so your other options are cash or credit/debit at time of pick-up. For orders over $50 we require a down payment up front. We do not accept checks.


“I only need 8 cupcakes/cookies.  Why do I have to order 1 dozen?


Because we are a custom-order only bakery and have no retail space, we have to have order minimums.


Refund/Exchange Policy


We take pride in our desserts and cakes. If you are unhappy with your order and/or purchase, kindly tell us at pick-up of your concern and we can discuss in person. NO REFUNDS ON PRODUCTS ONCE THEY LEAVE THE KITCHEN. We retain the right to judge our product quality for ourselves & determine the amount that can be refunded, if any at all. All refunds will be provided as in-store credit.


Can I make changes after I order?


You can make changes up to a week before your pick up date. Changes can be made by calling us at 571-927-4281 Please do not e-mail us any short notice changes, call us to ensure someone gets your message.


Order Cancellation Policy


From Gina’s Kitchen understands that plans change and we will gladly assist you in making changes to your order date and time whenever possible. We accept weekday cancellations by phone or email 1 week before your event, you will receive refund in full within the one week deadline. All changes must be handled directly with a representative of From Gina’s Kitchen and confirmed. From Gina’s Kitchen reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee if insufficient time is given, as stated above, due to costs incurred in the purchase, priority and preparation of the order. Charges for cancellations after the above time will be as follows: 75% of the entire order will be charged for cancellations 72 hours prior to the event and 100% of the entire order will be charged for canceling the order after that time. It is entirely up to From Gina’s Kitchen discretion, to change or otherwise offer any other options to the customer.
